AIG WOMEN'S OPEN

August 2, 2025

Darcey Harry

Rest Bay, Porthcawl, Wales, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Talk me through that round today.

DARCEY HARRY: Yeah, very stressful up and down round. I hit some very good shots and also hit some very bad shots.

I think it was just tough. I couldn't really seem to get the ball in the hole for putting-wise, which is a bit of a shame. I think I got close but they didn't want to drop for me today.

I'm happy I finished on a birdie, finished on a high. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Q. Talk one of your good shots, that approach on the third. It was pretty special.

DARCEY HARRY: I actually think that that was going to go in. When we saw it and then we didn't see it for a minute, but just went round the hole. Yeah, that was probably one of the best shots I think I've ever hit.

Q. And on the other side of the coin, you bounced back from that double. How do you manage to bounce back? Couple birdie chances and then finally made a birdie.

DARCEY HARRY: Yeah, out here you have to stay patient. There are a lot of birdie chances out here, but again, a lot of the bogey chances, double chances if you get in the wrong spots.

So kind of just stay patient. I think it was pretty frustrating like getting quite close and not quite getting a birdie. I mean, they'll drop eventually.

Q. What are you hoping to do tomorrow?

DARCEY HARRY: I think I just want to -- be nice to shoot an under-par round tomorrow. That's kind of my goal. If not, just play some good golf and have more good shots. Like to hit some birdies.

Q. With the weather coming in tomorrow, slightly earlier start. Is that going to be advantageous to you?

DARCEY HARRY: Yeah, well, I don't really know. I've seen the weather and I think wind is strong all day. I think the rain is there all day as well. It's going to be what it's going to be. Just have to turn up in the morning and see how bad it'll be.

Q. A lot of Welsh girls (indiscernible). How nice was that to see?

DARCEY HARRY: Yeah, it was really, really sweet. I saw some girls that were in the Welsh junior team, which was really, really sweet. It's nice they've come out to watch. I remember competing against them when I was in my amateur career. It's nice that people have come out to see how I'm getting on. There were lots of banners and Welsh flags out there. It was definitely to inspirational for me to see all that.

I think that was something that kept me going. I think people come out to see me have birdies, so be nice to keep focusing and try my best.

Q. (No microphone.)

DARCEY HARRY: Yeah. I think the weather has been very tough, so it's been -- and I think also the pressure has been -- it's been pretty difficult. I think when people think it's your home course they expect you to play it well. When the weather is like this, when the wind is blowing gusts of 25, you have to play good golf. Sometimes when your golf really isn't on it it's like any other day, any other golf course.

But it's been great having home support. Definitely a shame there is only one more round. I think it's going to feel very quiet after now once it's all over. It's happened very quickly, so it's a shame to come to an end so soon.

Q. (No microphone.)

DARCEY HARRY: No. I haven't played in a competition at all here. I'm always too busy to play in them. I know a lot of the members which is quite nice.

Q. (No microphone.)

DARCEY HARRY: I think just especially when I come out to practice, I think when I get the time away from competition, you don't want to go out playing 18. I think your home time is kind of time to reflect on your game and practice.

So I like spending a lot of time when I come up here just working on my game and play a few holes now and again. I think sometimes they're long days, the medals and -- yeah, I think it's long days, when you are away so many weeks of the year all you want to do is come home and go out for two hours and go home.

Q. (No microphone.)

DARCEY HARRY: Yes, I do. Yes. It's really nice. I think it's so nice to do a sport that's completely different to golf. And being around animals is so good for your mental health. They always put a smile on your face. Yeah, it's really nice.
